ON:

Bobby had decided his new chief was just scary enough to make him make that extra effort to be early and battle more with his hair. The briefing was no doubt about the planet they were now landed on and next steps. This morning had been strange, both him and his roommate woken up by suns going up. Tonight they were going to order the blinds down, he mused.

"Ensign," he nodded at Olowe, another one just a little on the scary side he mused even though she was a whole foot nearly smaller than him, as they waited for the Half Klingon woman.

Jelani nodded back at this non Copernicus crewman, or so she viewed him. Only a select number fell into what she considered Copernicus crew and it was a very small number indeed, They being the ones who had survived. Everyone else, all the new faces... They are just stand ins in her mind until they could prove they deserved to be included.

"Morning!"

Bobby nodded. “Did you enjoy the sunrise?” He tried to make some conversation in the awkward void as they waited for the chief.

"I had the bridge, best seat in the house. Just me, the viewscreen and one amazing view!"
Olowe's accent suddenly thickening as she spoke to a point that she sounded almost as if she was talking in her native African language. "I was the only one on the bridge to enjoy it as well."

Walking in, Sher’ra smiled at the other officers gathered, “morning everyone. Hope you’re looking Forward to an easy assignment”

“Sounds fun chief, ” Bobby said. “Whats it like out there? Lush, tropical? Are we getting to go out?” he asked.

“From what I’ve heard, the planet is lush with plant life and of course we’ll be sending security down with every away team so get your hiking boots on” Sher’ra answered “so should I ask for volunteers to stay behind or just let the entire staff go crazy?”

Jelani wasn't accustomed to the informality this new Chief showed towards her team. Lieutenant Commander Tamaska Holt, now Commander Holt had been a firmer hand in the role of Security Chief and the African native was finding it all a bit too new in the same vein that she couldn't fully accept the new crewmembers.

"I over heard the Captain talking on the bridge, he's pulled the away team leads into a meeting, four small mobile teams to start with!"

"So we need four officers then," Bobby said wondering why Jelani seemed off with both him and the new chief. "I volunteer to be on a team Maam."

“Don’t worry, you’ll all get a chance for some R&R here I’m sure” Sher’ra said, glad most of her staff had taken her more relaxed style well. “But our first job is to keep those science geeks safe while they have their fun. I want everyone prepped for deployment as soon as possible. I’ll be out there too, so I’m counting on each of you”

"Aye sir" Jelani trilled, still a little embarrassed at her conduct during the clean up after the attack. She had let her guard down and her superior officer had seen it all. She just hoped the Ensign Verona didn't hold it against her.

"Yes Maam," Bobby said. "So any info on these ruins?"

“Not as yet, but I’m sure that’s what we’re going down there for” Sher’ra replied, turning to Bobby, “got an interest in ruins hey?”

"Not in the slightest no," Bobby answered, "But if we are going planet side with a bunch of old ruins I'd like to know as much about them as we know. Especially if they are T'Kon."

Brodie finally spoke up. " Ma'am, Do we know how many away teams are going down to the surface? And are we going down with standard gear or may we bring some extra gear in case of trouble?"

Sher'ra looked at Brodie with curiosity, "what kind of extra gear are you thinking about? Standard equipment is what I'm requiring of all security on away teams, but if you have a suggestion i'm open to it"

Brodie grinned and stroked his chin. " Well other then me Dirk and a wee Garotte, I was thinkin about a extra communication device in case the comms go down it could guide others to our location. I was hopin you'd let me bring along me pipes."

Sher'ra gave a sigh, “the extra communication device is a sensible idea, but personal items will have to remain aboard until we know more about what’s down there. Wouldn’t want your pipes to end up killing some local life form, even with how bad they sound”

"Security personnel to shuttle bay for away team duty!" the intercom interrupted the meeting as the Captain's disembodied baritone voice began the announcement. "Minimal armaments and tricorders as standard!"

" Me pipes have NEVER killed anything!" Brodie Objected. " Except maybe the hearts of a few Lasses who could appreicate some good highland music that is." He said with a grin
