There was a mission where some crew were sent on to investigate a medical facility and the crew got exposed to something which has turned out to be a modified version of Symbalene blood burn.

Modified in that its not affecting biology’s as fast or as badly as the original form of the virus. It first presented in a Klingon hybrid. It masked symptoms to look like a regular cold in the security chief. It however seems, like the original virus to be contagious and people are carriers.

The modified virus upon further investigation seems to be specifically bad for vulcanoids. I have had to now quarantine sickbay and trace back all staff interactions with the two who were initially exposed.

There is no cure for blood burn. We seem to be having a little success slowing down the symptom’s, using drugs to reinforce blood vessels but until a proper treatment plan can be isolated all I can do is keep the patients comfortable. I am particularly worried about Lieutenant Lyras and fear I may have to place him in statis if we don’t turn up a solution soon.

I can also not rule out that this is a deliberate biological weapon.
