Reporting for duty

Mission: Episode 3 - Fear Is Fear Itself
Location: Science area

It was with some trouble but Anja managed to get her siblings settled into their quarters, she needed to go report in to a Lieutenant Junjie Han. She managed to find her way to the science lab and looked around to see what it was like. Peering at the lab equipment, and poked around getting an idea how things are set up. She noticed an image of a woman named Yelena Sidorov with a small black stripe over her image. Anja knew what that meant, the woman had died. It brought a chill to her, and also made her misty eyed as well, sadness for the loss of life and it reminding her of her own loss of family.

Moving from there, Anja explored even further coming to the office of the chief of science. She knocked on the door to see if anyone was present.

Junjie was hunched over his monitor when he heard the knock on the door. " Enter. " As he stood up and straightened his uniform top, As the unfamiliar entered his office wearing a science uniform. He held up his hand and placed a finger in front of his lips. " A quick question for you Petty Officer. In your mind, What is the worst kind of question out there? "

"The one you can't find an answer to?" Anja replied. a little bit confused.

Junjie smiled. " Correct.. An unasked or unanswered question is the worst question there is. As scientist we answer questions and expand knowledge so that we may better ourselves and those around us, making our worlds better and more enlightened. " He paused briefly and glanced at the PADD in her hand. " It appears that you have some information for me. " Gesturing to the PADD. " Petty Officer....? How may I help you? "

"Oh yes, Petty Officer 1st Class Anja Agapov." she stated handing the PADD to Junjie. "Newly arrived with siblings." giving a slight smile. "I have already met the XO, still have to talk to her later on."

Junjie took the PADD and briefed over it. " Well everything appears to be in order, Welcome to the Copernicus. " He held out his hand in greeting. " I believe you mentioned that you have siblings aboard? How old are they ? Are they also joining the crew? "

"Well, they are not old enough to join the crew as they are 14. Damyan is the oldest of the fraternal twin set, Luiza is the youngest." Anja replied.

" So two more students for our school here aboard the ship, I believe that brings the total up to six now. " Junjie said thoughtfully. So welcome aboard and I can give you a day to unpack and situate yourself and then we can get you jumping in and working with the rest of the team. "

Agapov nodded, that sounds good, so... is there another person who is part of the sceince team? It would be interesting to find out whom it is."

' Of course there's more of us in the science department. " Junjie said sounding amused. "Wouldn't be much of a science vessel with just two scientist aboard it now would it? We'll get you introduced to everyone as sure as space is vast and there are mysteries out there to solve. "

Agapov nodded, "Well hopefully soon, I would love to meet an Ensign Adrian Sage" Looking at her padd. "Never hurts to get to know those you work with."

" Of course not! " Junjie agreed. " I will introduce you to the team in short order. " He thought a moment. " Oh one thing I am thinking about starting is at the start of each shift the team will have a meal together and discuss what will be on the agenda for the day and as a team building experience, On a ship this small these people will be almost as close to you as family, "

Agapov smiled, "That sounds lovely. One can never have enough family especially when you have too few relations."

Junjie grinned. " I'm glad you feel that way. I think your going to fit in well here, You and your siblings. So the only thing I can do now I guess is to say welcome to your new home Anja. " He extended his hand in friendship. " Welcome indeed. "

Agapov took his hand and shook it, "Now though I think I need to go check on my siblings and see if they are settling in. If you don't mind that is." she stated.

" But of course, You have your siblings to check on. We don't live eat and breath science 24 hours a day on this ship. Only 23 hours a day. " Junjie said jokingly. " I have to give you at least an hour for sleep and meals you know. I'm not completely heartless. " He said with a grin and a light laugh.

Agapov gave a light laugh "Oh thank you kind sir for taking pity on this lowly scientist." giving an answering grin.

Junjie gave a warm smile. " Once again Petty Officer Agapov, welcome aboard the Copernicus. Now go take care of your siblings and get settled in and I'll see you in the Lab later. "
