ON:

Mel could feel herself coming round and she was cocooned in a comfortable warmth snuggled under a blanket. She smiled as D'BrooNi immediately let her relive some of the memories of what had led up to this feeling of contentment and being where she currently was. A smile crept up her face as her arm rolled out to find the man who had put that smile on it and he wasn't there.

Her eyes fluttered open turning the other way perhaps he was on the other side of the bed but no. She found herself sitting up frantically trying to look round the room.

The doors parted and Keiben re-entered the bedroom, noticing Mel seemed to be somewhat agitated, he tossed her a freshly replicated Orange and a sideways smile before placing the tray down on the small table near the bed.

"Whats got up your goat, as the Humans say!" he turned back to her, pulling the towel loose that was clinging to his waist before dropping down to the bed once more on his front so he could look directly at Mel.

Mel caught the orange and put it to her mouth, the rind touching her lips as she smelled it for a moment.

”Don’t you think they have some ridiculous sayings sometimes?” she asked. It was probably silly to tell him she had woken up alone and that had panicked her slightly after being with someone for the first time in 4 years.

Plus he could probably sense her relief and happiness at him returning back. She rolled on her side so they were directly looking at each other. ”I forgot to tell you the other thing I came round to say, ” she smiled pulling peel off the fruit and breaking a piece off. She offered a segment to him.

Keiben took it, and savoured the flavour, looking directly at her, his dark eyes soaking up the radiance of hers. "What did you forget to tell me?"

She chewed her own segment keeping his eyes, "The ships getting a baby. A newly married couple who joined us. Another new beginning Keiben," she found herself smiling as she offered him another piece of the orange this time holding it out to his mouth for him. She tried to look round him wondering what was on the little table.

"Raktajino, Mopa Fruit from Bajor and a bagel with Honey?" he could see her trying to eye the tray so he offered her an answer before he accepted the fruit directly from her fingers. "Still hungry?"

"Yes and ... "she grinned wickedly at him, "Yes ........... Wait Mopa fruit. You remembered I liked that one?"

"How could I forget... That Bajoran vender nearly lost his arm when you spotted what he was selling!"

Keiben chuckled as he shifted on the bed to sit and reach the tray. "Now, I need to apologise as I do have several meetings I have to get too!"

He kissed her on the forehead, not wanting to risk getting between her and the Mopa fruit.

”Of course, ” she said round a mouthful of the divine fruit. That had been so sweet. But this was the reality of things now. Whatever they were doing the ship always came first. When could she see him again? She wondered.

”You can't ask him that, ” Leiko threw out. ”Your supposed to leave him wanting more not look like a sack of spuds covered in Mopa juice sat in his bed.”

She put the fruit back on the tray suddenly feeling embarrassed. ”You know I'm the worst parent. Charlie. She will be wondering where I've got too, ” she got up too hunting round for her clothes, pulling them fast on her and disappearing into his bathroom throwing water on her face.

"You can take a day off you know... I have some say with the ships Commander!" again he flashed a wolfish grin and he pulled on some underwear and then snatching some of the Mopa fruit before Mel came back to devour what was left.

"Is that about the T'Kon?" She asked suddenly noticing some books in the small beside cabinet. "Your confusing him now," Leiko chimed. "Just kiss him again."

"Shut up," came a voice that very very rarely decided to surface. Mel stood silent for a moment thinking. There was something there, something fuzzy with Hal and D'BrooNi wasn't letting her pick through the memories.

"Its one of your specialities isn't it?" Mel smiled remembering Keibens background picking up the old book and running her fingers down the front cover over the picture. "May I borrow it? It would be good to get some background in ready for the mission," she said. "You must be so excited for this mission. Possible T'Kon base."

"I'm not sure anyone can really say they are an expert in the T'Kon... we know so little about them" he was stood infront of the window pulling on his red tunic and zipping it slowly before tucking it so it didn't fall below his waist. "But you are correct, the books are about all we know of the T'Kon and of course you can borrow them".

And maybe borrowing it might help piece together whatever was going on that her symbiont seemingly didn't want to share right now.

"Now ask if he can tell you more sometime," Leiko said loudly. "Then kiss him when he says yes."

"SHUT UP and put down that book ....."

Mel jumped slightly at the outburst then dismissed them all and decided just to be honest. Keiben looked concerned. Who knew what he was picking up from her right now.

"Someone shouting in there... I heard the clearly. You ok?" he came across to her, his jacket now on but not zipped up. He took her hands in his, feeling a little worried about her.

"My first host is being secretive and its something to do with the T'Kon. And the courtesan well she has other ideas I think you might like. I know I would definitely like them after this morning but at a better and more convenient time. Hopefully if you want to do this again,"

Keiben placed his large hand on her stomach directly over D'BrooNi before whispering in her ear "You can tell the first host we don't need to know his or her secrets... Takes all the fun out of us discovering the answers for ourselves!"

He kissed her once more before stepping back, an apologetic look on his face. "See you tonight" he called as he left his quarters forming it as a certainty and not a question.

There was several more collective sighs as he placed a hand on her stomach, whispered in her ear and kissed her again before disappearing out the door.
